The only official language operates throughout the country - Portuguese. It is used not only in this country, more than 200 million people around the world speak Portuguese. There is also a small group speaking in the language of Miranda in Portugal. In the municipalities of Vimiosa, Miranda do Douro and Mogador, it is the second official language.
Catholicism became the dominant religion in Portugal, this faith is held by about 94% of the population. In addition to the basic religion, there is a Protestant church in Portugal( 1%).The rest of the population classifies themselves as atheists.
The euro became the state currency, as Portugal is a member of the all-European union.

The capital of Portugal is the city of Lisbon with a population of 2.1 million people( when counting the inhabitants of the city and the suburbs).The number of residents in the city is only 557 thousand.

Lisbon is the most western metropolitan city in Europe. It combines modern buildings and untouched by time ancient parts of the streets. Therefore, Portugal is considered a country of mixed culture.
